Thomas Wight **

#5738, (cir. 1605 - )
WebIntroThis line of WIGHTs are the subject of two books: "The Wights" by William Ward Wight, 1890 and the follow up, "The Wights, Volume II" by Lois J. Wight, 1977
Thomas Wight arrived in Watertown, MA in 1635/36, settled in Dedham, MA and later moved to Medfield, MA in 1650. He had six children, Henry, John, Thomas, Mary, all born in England, and Samuel and Ephraim born in Dedham. His wife Alice died 15 Jul 1665 and Thomas remarried Lydia (Eliot) Penniman, widow of James Penniman and sister of John Eliot.
Nothing is known for certain about Thomas' origins other than that he came from England but evidence suggests that he came from a family in County Surrey, England.
The oral tradition of the family is that he came from the Isle of Wight, but there is no specific evidence to support that tradition.
