| Recruit(Wanted) | The project would like to recruit a representative of this line. A John of the right age and birthplace to be the son of Ralph and Helen (CROW) FAIRBAIRN was living with wife Janet and dtr Agnes at Cessford, Par. of Eckford In 1841 & 1851. Janet's mother may be the 70 yr old Janet Blackball with them. The family is not obvious in subsequent UK census returns. However, in Bruce Co, Ontario, Canada there is a family of a William GRIEVE and an Agnes FAIRBAIRN of the right age, both born Scotland. (William born Hobkirk, or Hawick depending on what you believe). Also in Bruce Co is the 1879 death of a John FAIRBAIRN, yeoman, born Scotland, of the right age to be this son of Ralph. The informant for his death was an A FAIRBAIRN of Derby. Anyone able to prove these conjectures would be most welcome, particularly if they were a male FAIRBAIRN able to represent this line in the dna project. |
