We may never know how the sub lineages 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d connect, but all three are more closely related to each other, than to what is currently defined as Lineage 1. The main set of markers differentiating them from Lineage 1 are however in a band of faster mutating markers, and not quite as significant when calculating genetic distance.
Only three participants (currently, Dec 2009) in lineage 1 have a value of 25 for marker 413a, so this value is currently assumed to belong to a predecessor of James & Helen (Goodfellow) FAIRBAIRN (and James presumed parents George and Janet (MURRAY) FAIRBAIRN), with the actual link being at least back to George's parents, given the existing paper trails.
